blue skies

if you're wondering why i've been so quiet - its because we are having a bout of beautiful weather! especially with granpa dave visiting, we just cant stay indoors! all week its been 60 degrees, clear & sunny. all the flowers are springing out and its such a joyous departure from our long cold winter here.















the star magnolia in my "backyard" park, and my dad says thats a b-52 flying overhead.. on a different picture we can see it better. it was huge and it had 4 jet streams coming off the back.

we got our current camera when lucas was just 2 months old... and just now have clocked 20,000 images taken with it! not bad for 2.5 years. i'm fond of saying we're the japanese tourists of parenthood..

counting the days

ph just turned 40! and so we went out for a night on the town to celebrate. we for a very fancy dinner and a short walk to the oldest street in boston to a little out-of-the-way cozy bar, where there was happily a basketball game on tv, and slowly poured guinness. we had fun chatting with some locals & saw some fireworks - it seemed so random, and so lucky for us.. since fireworks seem to be a recurring theme in our relationship ;)

speaking of counting, lucas can now count to 9 by himself. im so proud. !!!

and he's now potty training. he took the initiative a few days ago by saying he wanted to wear big-boy underpants, so here we are, doing it. he's even gone one full day without an accident! as a way to keep his motivation up, he has a sticker chart with a picture of a particular truck or digger he's working toward. but with the first full day out of diapers i feel like we can officially say, "he's trained", and is now just working out the details of how to be consistently dry.
