...and then the reality

i thought i would be able to tell many more stories than i did about our vacation to france but now the reality is that i didnt get the chance to really sit down an recapitulate all our experiences as fully as i would have liked to before other interesting and fun things started happening that also need blogging!

not least that my mom and jim are here for a visit! and we are having a blast.. going on a little bit of tourism, and lots of park visits & hanging out at the house.. eating out and enjoying our time together.

tres bien

our vacation was in a word - great. i almost wish i would have posted continuously while we were there, so as to retain the specialness of each passing moment better. now, as i sit and write from the great remove of one week, all the best parts seem to be washed into general happiness. so in the following posts will try and recapture some of these moments that they wont be lost forever. the pictures are up, but im having some technical difficulties loading the videos, so the only one up so far is a few seconds of looking out the train window.

well that was interesting, too. (see what i mean?) since i have to start somewhere, may as well be here on the train... the TGV -Train a Grande Vitesse, translated means train of great speed- goes so fast that when you enter a tunnel your ears pop! and as a bonus the interiors were updated since the last time we rode on it, so it was very swanky-stylin' and the kids enjoyed turning the reading lights on and off in between the chairs. we even lucked into first class passage on the way back. sooo comfy!

nerdy info excerpted from wikipedia: TGV holds the record for the fastest wheeled train, having reached 574.8 km/h (357 mph) on 3 April 2007,[1][2] and also holds the world's highest average speed for a regular passenger service.
