1,2,3..

at the grocery store (skabvenithis, nice name huh?) i found CHIPS & SALSA! (of course mild only, akin to V8 with chunks) and on the back of the bag of chips there were humorous instructions on HOW to eat this exotic food. 1. open jar 2. dip chip 3. eat dipped chip. it' s all written in greek, so i was left to the illustrations to determine the nature of the text, but pretty funny stuff. salsa not bad either, if a bit mild.. i add a little tabasco for the kick.

i used to never care much about tabasco sauce in texas because i found it generally too vinegary for my spice needs.. but NOW it's a regular staple in the lesager kitchen.

you should make Tricia's salsa:

large can whole tomatoes (don't use the juice)
garlic cloves to taste - chopped
jalapeno (or available pepper) to taste - chopped
small handfull cilantro (you can substitute green onion)
pinch salt and pepper
lemon or lime juice (1 whole fruit)

place half can of tomatoes in bottom of blender. place half of garlic and jalapeno and cilantro on top, blend just enough to break up chunks then add rest of ingredients and blend again careful not to over blend. best salsa on the planet: variations (roast garlic and pepper; use fresh tomatoes; substitute cilantro with sardines; instead of salt and pepper why not sugar and nutmeg?; whatever you do, don't add any beans or corn, that stuff's stupid.

Yeah, Tricia salsa is goooood. We were used to make a variation of it when staying at Susan's, but now I know our mistake: we kept the tomato juice... The little tricks that change everything!

i miss my blender! for salsa, for soup, for hummus... oh well we will have to get one before baby arrives at any rate.

the tms salsa we were making was good, but i was ready to roast or stew the tomatoes, peppers and garlic to see if it would give it that certain "je ne sais quoi" that is picante sauce... maybe add a small bit of tomato sauce or paste?? i dunno, but y'all'r makin' me want mex food now.
