visitit resistit admitit listentoit
i accepted a challenge, i saw it on one of the blogs i watch.. (http://whistlingleafblower.blogspot.com/2008/09/visititresistitadmititlistentoit.html) but in formulating with my own answers, i couldnt help but answering these questions with a political tilt. probably because we are one month away from a presidential election.
ordinarily i stay off politics for my blog because my family (and some friends even!) are heavily divided in this department... but these are not ordinary times.
visit it: your polling place! and vote FOR obama!
resist it: oil products (gasoline, plastics...
admit it: i am terrified of governor palin & i loved the SNL parody
listen to it: (listen or watch or read) the Lorax by Dr. Seuss.. i saw its available in 6 parts on youtube

Obama is a Marxist Socialist. If George Orwell's "1984" appeals to you, then by all means...vote for Obama, and be a slave to the government.
a quote from ShooterB says:
Ah, so now he’s a secret Muslim Marxist. Just kind of rolls off the tongue.
When such criticisms come up, it just leads me to believe that the opposition has very little solid ground to stand on. So they’ve resorted to name-calling and usage of scary words that people don’t really understand.
So you DO think that the answer to all our problems is "more government?" Oppression DOES appeal to you? Punishment of success is the way to go? The more someone makes, the more we punish them with oppressive taxation? What about the poor, poor pitiful poor? Why can't they pick themselves up, instead of drag everyone else down to their level? This is Obama's Marxist plans.
so why all the anonymous comments?
listen, obamas' taxation plan is not oppressive. for the wealthy, it is the same tax rates as under reagan.
we've all seen that the "trickle down" effect doesnt work!
for the record, im a social democrat.. as respectable position as any. no, i dont see communism as the answer, and i think the market is a powerful tool. but in having all this national wealth - i also want cradle-to-grave health coverage like the french and the canadians.
and i want our children to have a good education! ranking 25th in math & science among the world's top 30 industrialized nations is a shame - and americans deserve better!
i will not comment again.. if you dont like my opinion, you just dont have to visit my blog - and god bless you!.. like i said in the original post, this is not a subject i would ordinarily post on
to anonymous #1:
saying that O is MS does not mean anything. As anonymous #2 pointed out, the scary word tactic is almost funny, particularly for people who are on neither side of the debate. If you want to make a point and try and have an impact, you should talk about policies...
But what confuses me is the reference to 1984, which is not about more government, but totalitarian regimes, censorship & eavesdropping that goes with it!
Read it again, slowly, particularly now, since this novel should remind us why we needn't more of bush-cheney scaremongering. Totalitarian gov can easily arise from nationalist oligarch (oily-garch !)...
anonymous #3: you question fairness in taxation. I do agree that it is far from perfect, and we should improve it. But reducing the fairness question to the income tax rate of the highest brackets is simplistic to the least. Fairness has to be defined w/r/t loopholes, exemptions, other taxes and benefits. At the end it is a moral and economic question, about what mutual aid should be and how it should work. From the way you qualify the poor, I can already guess you are not a christian. (Laugh).
Bethany: do not worry about the troll!
i love that you decided to do the VIRIAILTI post, and i am sorry i didn't read it until now! you have a great take on it.
as for the provocative/offensive anonymous comments, my advise:
don't feed the trolls.
