sleeping beauty!
ruby slept from 8pm to 5.30am last night! god bless her sweet soul! this was my first full night in about 8 months!! she's only 5.5mo, but the last trimester of pregnancy i was up 3-5x per night to pee.. ive only been up with her once or twice a night for a long while now.

wow--8 o'clock is a marvelous time--gives you a couple hours of productive time before you get sleepy yourself! i'm curious--do you put her down the same time every night? do you just let her cry a bit if she's not tired? i'm so confused as to what i should do. i'm content to let beck go to bed when he's sleepy, but i know that might be leading us all in to a whole world of trouble very soon!
things like this are always such a moving target... variable with mood & season, but aiming for regularity. eventually the naps work themselves out. but for nighttime its alittle different. lucas was always tired around 6pm and would take his big night from 6-10 or 12.. which was kinda tiring for the bf, but great for having "grownup" time with ph! eventually as he got older he gradually shifted to 7 and then 8.. ruby is different because she really follows lu schedule.. as it stands now our evening dance is such:
dinner at 630 with everyone at the table
bath at 730
ruby booby & lu bedtime story
& lights out.. usually between 8-830..
but now that im taking ruby off her nighttime feedings, i will feed her again if she wakes up at any time before i go to sleep...
so.. short answer, yes a regular routine helps alot. and once they start getting dirty everyday a bath added to the routine really relaxes them! i never leave them to cry for bedtime.. but i hear it works too..its just not my disposition to do it
i hear ya about the crying...lots of people tell me to let him do it, but it seems cruel when it's his only means of communication. thank you so much for the advice, dr. b! ;-)
the tradeoff with putting yr kids to bed early is that they do wake up early too! we are always up by 630am if not earlier!!. that can be kindof a drag, but we tell ourselves they'll be sleeping till noon when theyre teenagers. i'm counting on it! haha.
